Confirming the key staff at Final Fantasy 16 is the biggest reason to be excited

Final Fantasy Development Team 16

Following the glorious rediscovery of Final Fantasy XVI at the latest from Sony Game condition, Square Enix considered it appropriate to confirm the key members of the staff working on the future RPG. Most of these names have been reported or rumored before, but to see them all blocked is, in our humble opinion, the biggest reason to be excited about the 2023 launch.

Take a look at the talent that is being offered here, according to the official press release:

  • Manufacturer - Naoki Yoshida (FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, DRAGON QUEST X, DRAGON QUEST: Monster Battle Road)
  • Chief Executive Officer - Hiroshi Takai (FINAL FANTASY V, SaGa Frontier, THE LAST REMNANT)
  • Creative director and original screenwriter - Kazutoyo Maehiro (FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, FINAL FANTASY XII, LAST REMAINING)
  • Location Director - Michael-Christopher Koji Fox (FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, FINAL FANTASY XI Online, FINAL FANTASY VII Dirge of Cerberus)
  • Artistic Director - Hiroshi Minagawa (FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, FINAL FANTASY XII, FINAL FANTASY TACTICS)
  • Battle Director - Ryota Suzuki (DEVIL MAY CRY 5, Dragon’s Dogma, MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 2)
  • Character design - Kazuya Takahashi (FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, FINAL FANTASY XI Online, FINAL FANTASY X)
  • Composer - Masayoshi Soken (FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, Mario Hoops 3-la-3, series Nanashi in Game)

The first credit is the one that everyone already knows. Yoshida led the team that brought Final Fantasy XIV back to the doorstep, then turned it into the amazingly successful MMO we know today. Along with Maehiro, Fox, Minagawa, Takahashi and Soken, it’s clear that XIV’s greatest players are all directly involved in the production of Final Fantasy XVI - which is incredibly reassuring given how brilliant the MMO is. above mentioned. In short, these guys know how to play a damn good game.

And then there’s Suzuki - probably the most interesting name on this already impressive list. As is credited, Suzuki was largely responsible for the fighting direction of Devil May Cry 5 and Dragon’s Dogma - two of the best examples of action fighting in modern games. Based on what we’ve already seen about his fighting system, there’s more than a hint of the two Capcom titles in Final Fantasy XVI. Extremely interesting things.
