NFP appoints Markel’s Horsman as head of Canadian National Broking
NFPNew York property and damage insurance broker and consultant announced this Emily Horsman joined the company as head of Canadian National Broking.
Horsman will lead efforts to build the national NFP brokerage platform in Canada, along with Canadian brokerage and business leaders and underwriting partners.
She will also work closely with US NFP brokerage colleagues and relations with the main Canadian operator. Horsman reported the Mark Wienshead of commercial insurance for NFP in Canada.
Horsman has over 20 years of experience in brokerage, underwriting and management. She joins Markel Canada, where she served as vice president, Alternative Distribution. Prior to that, she was vice president, broker for Willis Towers Watson.
She has worked in a variety of brokerage and underwriting roles for Aon Reed Stenhouse and ACE INA Insurance. Horsman received a Fellow, Professional Charter Insurance Professional from the Insurance Institute of Canada and a Canadian Risk Management from the Global Institute of Risk Management.
Horsman will focus on NFP’s growing mid-market P / C business while providing support to its small and medium business teams and complex risk solutions, Wiens said in a statement.
The insurer openly expands its reinsurance divisionHire Landi Din Everest Re
OpenBoston-based homeowners insurance provider has announced his appointment Anthony Landi as head of the capital reinsurance and management department. Landi will lead Openly’s reinsurance division and expand its internal disaster management program.
Prior to joining Openly, Landi spent 10 years at Everest Reinsurance, where he most recently established and headed the Office of Portfolio Management for the reinsurance division. Landi has previously held various leadership and strategy roles in US property reinsurance, global direct and optional reinsurance (D&F) and global property restitution.
Founded by insurance industry veterans Ty Harris and Matt Wielbut, Openly uses state-of-the-art data and technology to provide customer-friendly home insurance policies. In the last year, the company has seen a 700% increase in premiums in effect, a 250% increase in independent insurance agents selling on its platform and has employed more than 100 employees.
