Final Fantasy XVI: What we know
Final Fantasy XVI is the sixteenth main entry in the title series. Set in the fantastic world of Valisthea, the game takes place in a medieval period. At the center of the plot are the Eikons, the invoked monsters and the Dominants, the people who control them. The game will be released first on Playstation 5. It will also be released for Windows after its Playstation-scheduled exclusivity ends. In addition, Naoki Yoshida, who is the producer and director of Final Fantasy XIV, leads this game as well. A trailer detailing the world, characters and traditions of the game was released to the public in December 2020. In July 2021, Yoshida stated that the Final Fantasy XVI story, along with the voice, was in its final stages. He later revealed in May that the game was nearing completion.
Regarding the recent trailer, Yoshida says: the real game, namely the high octane battles in which our protagonist Clive Rosfield wields a complete arsenal of unique attacks for the numerous Eikon (invocations) of the game. Not to mention the epic clashes between Eikon himself that put you straight into action. ”
He went on to say that the game is now in the final stages of development under the guidance of Hiroshi Takai. In addition, it is now focusing on preparing the game for release. The characters of the story and the development team were also detailed in some depth. More details about the game can be found here.
