How to delete page breaks in Google Docs
Deleting page breaks in Google Docs is fairly straightforward, as long as you know where the page breaks are.
To delete a page break in Google Docs:
- Click in front of the first word in the first paragraph after pausing the page.
- the press Backspace on Windows or Remove on Mac (shown below).
- Your text should now follow the previous paragraph immediately, with no space between them. You may need to press the key Backspace or Remove type several times if there is extra space before or after the page pauses.
- Alternatively, click at the end of the last paragraph before pausing the page.
- the press Remove on Windows or Fn + Delete on Mac. You may need to repeat this to remove any extra space.
- Your page break should disappear.
How to get rid of page breaks in Google Docs with pageless viewing
One problem with deleting page breaks in Google Docs is that you can’t see them. you can only see the effect. There’s no way to make page breaks visible in the standard Google Docs page view. However, there is an alternate view that allows you to see page breaks.
To view page breaks in Google Docs using pageview:
- Open File the menu.
- At the bottom of the list of options, click Page setup.
- Click on No page and then click K.
- You are now in pageless view, which turns your document into a single continuous page. Any page breaks in your document are now clearly visible.
- To remove a page break, click on it and press Remove on Windows or Fn + Delete on Mac.
- Alternatively, just click on the paragraph below the page break and press Backspace on Windows or Remove on Mac.
- To return to the page view, go to File> Page Setup and select page then press K
You cannot insert new page breaks in the pageless view. If you want to enter page breaks, you’ll need to return to the page view to do so.
Use section breaks in Google Docs
If all of the above seems like too much effort, there is an alternative. Instead of using page breaks in your document, you can use section breaks. These can be used for the same purpose as page breaks, but have the added benefit that you can turn their visibility on and off.
Insert section sections into Google Docs
Inserting a section break into Google Docs is similar to the method of inserting a page break.
To insert a section break into Google Docs:
- Click at the end of the last paragraph before you want the section break to appear.
- Click on Enter.
- Put it on top Pause and then click Section break (Next page).
- A section break will be introduced, and the next paragraph will start on a new page.
Show and hide section breaks
You can choose whether you want the section breaks to be visible or hidden.
To show or hide section breaks in Google Docs:
- Click on View.
- Check or uncheck Show section breaks depending on your preference. Clicking this option will change it from the current setting.
- With this setting enabled, section breaks are visible as dotted blue lines.
Delete a section break in Google Docs
With Displays the pause sections On, it’s easy to find and delete any section breaks in your document. Unlike page breaks, you can remove section breaks only above the break and not below.
To delete section breaks from Google Docs:
