You can create a desktop icon for just about anything on your Windows computer. If you don’t see any, you’ll need to restore them. Here’s how.

When you set up a new Windows computer, you’ll see a familiar desktop image.

Icons such as Recycle Bin and Microsoft Edge often appear here to launch as soon as you’re ready. Over time, you may be able to add other pop-up system icons for easy access.

To restore a Recycle Bin icon:

  1. Double-click Trash to view its contents.
